Foxfield Remodel

About the Project

Foxfield Remodel is a focused residential interior design project by Ethan Charles Design in Westlake Village, California. The scope centers on the kitchen and a guest bathroom—spaces reworked over four months with Italian warmth held in check by modern restraint.

The kitchen is treated as the operational and social heart of the house. Custom white oak cabinetry sets a calm wood base, while a deep green handmade tile backsplash introduces color with a handmade surface quality that reads collected rather than decorative. An espresso-toned island, finished with bespoke brass hardware, anchors the plan and gives the room a darker counterpoint to the oak. Open shelving holds curated ceramics; bespoke lighting completes the composition without clutter.

Down the hall, the guest bathroom is designed with a younger generation in mind—playful in attitude, still precise in material choice. Together, the two rooms show how Ethan Charles Design handles California home renovation at a selective scale: limited scope, high material specificity, and furniture-and-object composition that feels lived-in rather than staged.

Foxfield Remodel is useful as a case of contemporary residential design where millwork, tile, metal hardware, and lighting do the heavy lifting. Nothing is arbitrary; each surface and fixture supports a kitchen that is both cookable and hospitable, and a guest bath that carries personality without losing polish.
