CDA Treehouse

CDA Treehouse is a ground-up custom home by Ethan Charles Design in the Black Rock community of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Conceived as a weekend escape from Los Angeles, the residence pairs California sophistication with Idaho warmth across roughly 5,000 square feet of interior living and 1,600 square feet of outdoor space.

The house was raised twelve feet above the originally planned elevation so every room could hold sweeping lake views. That decision shapes the project’s spatial character: rooms orient outward, and the interiors are calibrated for long views rather than closed-in domesticity. Linen-clad walls soften the architecture while bespoke lighting, custom tilework, custom furniture, and curated art give each room a deliberate material and tonal presence.

Outdoor living is continuous with the interior. Custom limestone decks on both levels, each with a firepit, extend the living sequence toward the water and support evening use without feeling like an afterthought. Circulation through the home reads as intentional rather than leftover, with the stairwell—marked by a notable lighting fixture—acting as both connector and focal moment.

As residential interior design for a second home, CDA Treehouse shows how Ethan Charles Design approaches new construction: clear program, view-driven orientation, and a material palette that stays tactile and specific. The project sits comfortably within contemporary residential design while remaining rooted in place—Idaho landscape, lake light, and a grown-up treehouse sensibility that never tips into theme.
