For And And And Studio, the house is both private residence and working canvas — a place where the practice tests how architecture and interiors can support authentic daily life rather than trend-driven display.

The building is a 1959 mid-century house that had drifted from its original clarity. Renovation proceeded through excavation that brings natural construction materials back into view and lets the site’s own story show through again. Instead of chasing decorative novelty, the project aims for a calm, natural retreat above the city below, with material honesty doing most of the expressive work.

In the studio’s account, the way a home is inhabited should make room for self-expression. Canopy is presented as a full statement of that idea: mid-century residential design in the Los Angeles hills, stripped back toward construction, landscape, and quiet mountain setting.
