WORKout

About the Project

WORKout occupies 7,750 square feet on Atrium Level 2 of Seattle’s Columbia Center, transforming former retail storefronts into a premium member gym. Best Practice Architecture teamed with Exos and Precor Equipment for the September 2019 completion, organizing open workout floors, a class studio, massage room, and locker suites.

A dark interior palette, dynamic imagery, lighting, and color accents energize the training zones. Locker rooms flip that mood: Italian-tiled walls and floors echo the gym’s geometry but stay light and bright so members can reset before returning to downtown. Unimark Construction built the project; Fixture Design Studio, Lighting Designs Inc, Kevin Bauer, Messenger Corp, and Exos collaborated.

As commercial fitness interiors by Best Practice Architecture, WORKout shows how tower amenity space can feel deliberate rather than leftover retail.

Published project size is listed as 7750 sf. Project status is recorded as Completed September 2019. Credits noted on the Best Practice Architecture project page include Contractor: Unimark Construction; Collaborators: Fixture Design Studio | Lighting Designs Inc | Kevin Bauer | Messenger Corp | Exos. The listing year is 2019.

Members move between open workout floors and a dedicated class studio before recovering in massage and locker suites calibrated as a counterweight to downtown intensity. Dynamic imagery and lighting keep training zones active, while the Italian tile geometry quietly echoes the gym’s dark palette in a lighter register. The project sits inside Columbia Center’s atrium retail conversion, so Best Practice Architecture had to make former storefront depths feel like intentional athletic rooms rather than leftover leasing leftover.
