About the Project

Atop the 1949 Prudential / Museum Square Building by Wurdeman & Becket on Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles, CA, Best Practice Architecture delivered a 12,200-square-foot penthouse for the SAG-AFTRA Foundation. Completed June 2024, the Center for Performing Artists gathers a 100-person screening room, voice-over labs, recording booths, on-camera studios, a tech lab, editing bay, classrooms, and foundation offices under one roof.

The facility supports free professional development and financial aid for more than 160,000 SAG-AFTRA performers nationwide. Opposite the view side of the gathering space, a wood tambour–clad screening room anchors the acoustic and material story, while clinical and teaching rooms stay discrete enough for serious training. Howard Building Corporation was contractor; Silman, Derive Engineers, and Akustiks joined the consultant team.

As workplace and cultural interiors by Best Practice Architecture, the project turns a historic Los Angeles penthouse into a working campus for performers rather than a ceremonial lobby alone.

Published project size is listed as 12,200 sf Penthouse. Project status is recorded as Completed June 2024.
