OT House is a residential project designed by DARP – De Arquitectura y Paisaje, located in Envigado, within a natural setting characterized by vegetation and a sloping topography. The house is positioned on a relatively flat platform at the base of the terrain, allowing it to establish a strong relationship with the surrounding landscape while maintaining spatial clarity and privacy. The project is conceived as a spatial system generated from a single extruded section, which organizes the entire architectural program. This simple yet powerful idea allows the house to resolve functional, spatial, and environmental conditions through a coherent architectural language. The design is composed of three longitudinal volumes aligned with the natural slope of the land. These volumes shift and are strategically perforated to create connections between interior spaces and the exterior environment. Programmatically, the house is divided into three main zones: a social and service area, a private bedroom wing, and a central pavilion that acts as the main articulating element. This central space is conceived as a “void,” containing the entrance foyer, an internal courtyard, and a study area. Rather than being enclosed by solid walls, these spaces are defined by glass boundaries, allowing for visual continuity and a constant connection to the surrounding landscape. A key architectural strategy in the project is the reinterpretation of the traditional Antioquian patio house. The central courtyard becomes the heart of the house, incorporating aquatic plants and native vegetation. This element enhances natural lighting and cross-ventilation while creating layered spatial relationships through transparency and reflection. The patio not only organizes circulation but also reinforces the integration between architecture and nature. Materiality and construction further support this concept of continuity. The use of exposed materials and structural clarity emphasizes the relationship between volumes, voids, and landscape. Openings, courtyards, and transitional spaces blur the boundaries between interior and exterior, allowing the house to function as both a shelter and an extension of its environment. Overall, OT House presents a contemporary architectural approach rooted in simplicity, spatial sequencing, and a deep sensitivity to context.
