About the Project

Pnoes Tinos is a boutique hotel by Aristides Dallas Architects on the island of Tinos, Cyclades, Greece. Completed in 2022, the hospitality project is a Design Hotels member and is described as the first design holiday destination on Tinos. It is organized as a cluster of villas with private pools and gardens, with an architecture and hospitality approach directed toward relaxation and regeneration.

The design is structured around earth, wind and water as elements associated with the island. Bedroom spaces are placed below ground level and treated as cave-like habitats, giving the villas protected and private areas that frame views from inside. Above them, three white-washed cubic volumes sit over the earth and open toward the landscape, with voids and solid forms arranged to allow wind to pass through.

Water is used around the villas, where pools and surrounding water surfaces produce reflections and mediate the relationship between the built forms and their setting. The project refers to Cycladic building traditions and to the medieval settlements of Tinos through its use of pure volumes, white-washed forms and shaded, inward spaces.
