Trio Side Table

Trio is a side table organized as a small stack of shifted geometries. A black-painted ash wood top and two cylinders meet a chrome-plated aluminum central cylinder, so three black elements sit together while wood and metal keep different tones. The piece turns on that dislocation of volumes and CMF rather than on ornament. Designed in 2022 for Lift Loft, Shanghai.

Trio Side Table by TONG is a sculptural side table designed for Lift Loft in 2022. Created in Shanghai, the piece explores balance through offset geometry and contrasting material finishes.

A black painted ash wood tabletop is paired with cylindrical forms and a chrome plated aluminum central element. Although the components share a predominantly black palette, differences in material and finish create subtle variations in tone and surface character.

Through this combination of geometry, material contrast and deliberately displaced forms, Trio moves beyond a purely functional side table to take on a more playful and artful presence within an interior.
