Imperial Riding School, Vienna

Imperial Riding School, Vienna, is a hospitality interior by Goddard Littlefair in Vienna’s Landstraße district. The studio’s project page lists completion in 2024 and a scope covering public areas, 340 guest rooms, suites and corridors, a wellness suite, gardens and terraces. Nestled in Landstraße, the hotel is presented as a meeting of aristocratic grandeur and the contemporary energy of Vienna, with a layered narrative that begins at arrival and continues through dining, guestrooms and garden.

The design draws on the property’s equine past and on Austria’s artistic heritage. Ground-floor spaces are described as refined yet intimate: a coffee lounge, the Farrier bar and Elstar restaurant each build a sense of place through finishes and craft tied to Viennese cultural richness. Equine craftsmanship surfaces in specific moments—dynamic metalwork that enlivens the bar, and intricate mirror and lighting details in the restaurant—intended to support both social gathering and quieter pauses.

Guest rooms extend the same narrative as quieter sanctuaries where equestrian references such as leather accents and horsehair details meet contemporary planning for comfort. Outside, the hotel’s garden is cast as a peaceful escape, with horseshoe-shaped seating and an orchard backdrop reinforcing the riding-school identity without theatrical pastiche. The published case study frames every space, detail and texture as part of a single art-and-heritage register for the stay.
