About

Inspired by Takeshi Kitano’s film Sonatine, this sculptural metal stool explores the relationship between stillness and tension through a composition of opposing curves. The seat forms a shallow, concave arc, gently rising at both ends, while the base curves in the opposite direction, extending outward from the center toward the floor. These two gestures meet along a narrow central connection, giving the seat an almost floating presence.

Viewed from the front, the stool presents a symmetrical silhouette, with a generous opening beneath the thin metal edges emphasize the clarity of the curves, while the broad surfaces reveal subtle variations in light, shadow, and texture.

The reference to Sonatine is expressed as an atmosphere: a sense of quiet suspended over an underlying force. The stool translates this tension into a functional object, bringing together the physical weight of metal and the visual delicacy of a precisely balanced form.
