5 photosThe hanger concept is based on the design of a classic stretch hanger, adapted to modern needs. The inspiration comes from the Propeller Stool by designer Kaare Klint, whose method of processing the element is translated into the functionality of the hanger.
The hanger is made entirely from solid oak and consists of two identical turned wooden elements. After turning, each element is precisely cut along a spiral path. This process transforms the two original turned components into four identical spiral-cut pieces, which are then used as the structural elements for assembling the final hanger.
The main challenge of the project was developing a reliable method for producing the spiral cuts with a high level of consistency. Since the geometry of each cut directly affects how the four pieces come together, the cutting process had to be carefully developed to ensure that the angle, position, and shape of the spiral remained identical from one component to another.
The final assembly creates a simple but distinctive sculptural form, while maintaining the familiar functionality of a traditional hanger. The combination of turned solid oak elements and precise spiral cuts gives the product a strong visual identity and highlights the relationship between form, material, and manufacturing.
The project explores how a relatively simple production process can be used to create a more complex and recognizable form through precise cutting and assembly.
