Ernest & Young Porto Office, designed by Contacto Atlântico, is a corporate interior project developed within the ICON Tower in Porto. The intervention focuses on redefining the contemporary workspace through spatial clarity, flexibility, and a strong emphasis on user experience within a professional environment. The design strategy is based on creating a balanced relationship between open work areas and enclosed spaces. Transparent partitions and glass meeting rooms allow visual continuity across the office while maintaining acoustic separation. This approach enhances collaboration and communication while preserving moments of privacy where needed. Materiality plays a key role in shaping the spatial identity. The project combines neutral tones with warm wooden elements, creating a professional yet welcoming atmosphere. The contrast between transparent glass surfaces and solid materials establishes a layered environment where light and reflection become active components of the space. Lighting is carefully integrated to support both functionality and comfort. Linear lighting systems emphasize circulation paths and workstations, while softer ambient light contributes to a calm and productive working environment. The overall lighting strategy avoids harsh contrasts, reinforcing visual consistency throughout the office. The layout is designed to be flexible and adaptable, responding to the evolving nature of contemporary work culture. Workstations, meeting areas, and collaborative zones are organized to support different modes of interaction, from focused individual work to team-based activities. Ultimately, the project reflects Contacto Atlântico’s approach to corporate architecture—where efficiency, spatial quality, and human-centered design converge. Through clarity in organization, material coherence, and controlled lighting, the office becomes a functional yet refined working environment. The project also emphasizes circulation as a spatial experience, where movement through the office is guided by visual transparency and material transitions. Breakout areas and informal meeting zones are strategically distributed to encourage interaction, while maintaining a cohesive aesthetic language. This layered organization allows the workspace to function as a dynamic environment that adapts to different working styles and team structures seamlessly.
